New high school zine launched
Emma Murphy, Adelaide
Over the recent school holidays, a group of Adelaide high school students, in association with Resistance, produced the first issue of a new zine, The Bench. The zine has been coordinated, written and distributed by students with the aim of informing, inspiring and involving young people in the struggle against injustice. The Bench includes articles on young workers' rights, refugees, Cuba, and racism and poverty inside the US.
After various planning meetings and an afternoon of layout, The Bench hit the high schools, with lots of positive feedback so far. On one school, a supportive religious education teacher has encouraged Resistance members to give a quick talk about The Bench at the beginning of each class.
To get a copy of The Bench or get involved in the next issue, you can drop in to the Adelaide Resistance Centre (34a Hindley St), phone Emma on 0412 974 575 or email resistance.org.au>.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
