UNITED STATES: Opposition to Iraq war at all-time high
"Opposition among Americans to the war in Iraq has reached a new high, with only about a third of respondents saying they favor it", CNN reported on August 21, adding that "61 percent say they oppose it — the highest opposition noted in any CNN poll since the conflict began more than three years ago". According to the CNN poll, 61% of US residents favour the withdrawal of some or all US troops from Iraq by the end of this year. On attitudes toward US President George Bush, CNN reported: "Most Americans (54 percent) don't consider him honest, most (54 percent) don't think he shares their values and most (58 percent) say he does not inspire confidence." The latest New York Times/CBS News poll, released on August 23, found that "51% of those surveyed saw no link between the war in Iraq and the broader antiterror effort, a jump of 10% points since June", the NYT reported. "Fifty-three per cent said going to war was a mistake, up from 48% in July", and Bush's overall approval rating remained unchanged since July, "with 57% disapproving and 36% approving".

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
