A Current Affair intimidates workers

MELBOURNE — The employer of two workers who were sacked and then reinstated after a community picket at their workplace subsequently encouraged Channel Nine's A Current Affair show to film the two workers at the factory against their wishes, according to the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union.

Vince Pascuzzi, a shop steward for the AMWU at Finlay Engineering, even had ACA camp outside his home while he was on sick leave, extending the media harassment to his whole family.

According to a statement from the AMWU, ACA followed Pascuzzi and workmate Harry Rai around the factory. It later broadcast remarks they made taken completely out of context. For example, when the boss asked where Pascuzzi had been the previous day, he replied that he was caring for his sick child and had a certificate, but ACA played footage of him saying "no comment", making him appear to be evading the question.
