SOUTH AFRICA: 10 arrested as protesters lash out
Ten people were arrested in a Durban protest calling for formal housing on April 28. Hundreds of protesters from the Cato Crest informal sector had gathered to present President Thabo Mbeki, who was speaking nearby, with a memorandum asking for proper hosing with running water and sanitation. However, prevented from getting close to Mbeki by police in riot gear, the crowd threw rocks, while the police fired rubber bullets and tear gas, in a face-off that lasted for more than an hour. Two police officers and several protesters were injured.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
