Timor benefit concert
BRISBANE — Several hundred people crowded into the No 12 Lounge Bar in Fortitude Valley on September 9 for the "Dem Belly Full?" benefit concert for East Timor.
The event was sponsored by the Roots 'n' All Foundation and The Forest, and raised funds to support the establishment of a community nursery and permaculture garden in Los Palos, East Timor.
A slide show was presented and speakers argued for Timor's right to a fair maritime boundary with Australia.

'Crackerjack' bowls club wins
BRISBANE — In a story reminiscent of the film Crackerjack, members of the Caboolture Bowls Club won a court victory on September 10 in their bid to prevent their club from being sold off for property development.
Around 50, mostly elderly, club members rallied outside the court after an 11-day and night sit-in at the club rooms to prevent Caboolture Property Investments from seizing control of the clubhouse and forcibly preventing members' re-entry.
The district court dismissed an eviction order from the land owners, provided the club members made initial payments on an alleged debt to CPI.
Outside the court, club greens director Terry Little said the result was a "win for the good guys".

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
