Actors portray refugee tragedy

SYDNEY — A cast of 60 actors, both amateur and professional, got together on October 4 at the Marrickville Town Hall to take part in a reading of writer Alex Broun's new play script, Dead in the Water, which is based on the on the firsthand experiences of those who survived the sinking of SIEV X. Among an audience of 100 was Robin Rothfield from Labor for Refugees in Melbourne, who helped fund the script to its first draft stage. While many of the actors had only seen the script for the first time that day, they managed to bring the characters to life, and moved many in the audience to tears.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
