In brief: BRITAIN — Thousands protest Iraq war
Around 75,000 anti-war protesters flooded London's streets on October 17, in a protest called to coincide with the European Social Forum meeting in that city. The protesters carried signs emblazoned "Troops out!" and "Blair must go!". The media has been speculating that PM Tony Blair will be asked to increase his country's troop commitment to Iraq by US President George Bush. The protest was supported by Paul Bigley, the brother of Kenneth Bigley who was recently executed in Iraq. "For Ken's sake, I ask you to join this demonstration", Paul Bigley told AFP on October 15.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
