Pilger addresses packed meetings
The University of WA held two public meetings with radical journalist John Pilger on January 12 and 13. Despite limited publicity, the first night attracted 900 people while the second 350, with hundreds of people turned away.
Pilger discussed the "war on terror" and social change. In response to questions about how to deal with the heavy bias in the corporate media, and the disdain of the "powerful" for the people, Pilger emphasised that it was up to us to change things.
Pilger will be speaking at a Sydney showing of his new film, Breaking the Silence: Truth and Lies in the War on Terror, on February 15 at 6pm. For details, see the advertisement on page 8.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
