Defend community television!
Rihab Charida, Sydney
Channel 31, Sydney's public access community television station, may be forced off the air if its broadcasting license is not renewed.
Community Television Sydney (CTS) Channel 31 has been broadcasting for more than 10 years, providing community groups with the opportunity to relay their views to millions of potential viewers. CTS is the only community TV station in Sydney and is not controlled by government or commercial interests.
If CTS is not granted its licence, this vital source of alternative information will be lost. Operating on a policy of inclusiveness, the doors have always been open to any group with an interest in producing community television. CTS currently has an audience of 1.3 million viewers a month and it is rising.
We need your help! Let the Australian Broadcasting Authority know that you support CTS Channel 31 and urge the ABA to renew the station's broadcasting licence. Email the ABA at <info@ABA.gov.au> (and send copies to <keep31alive@optusnet.com.au>), phone (02) 9334 7700, fax (02) 9334 7799 or send a letter to the ABA Licensing Section, Q500 QVB, NSW 1230.
For more details about the campaign to save community television, phone (02) 9436 4431 or 0405 760 929 or email <keep31alive@optusnet.com.au>.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
