Socialist prosecuted anti-war leafletting
BY GRAHAM MATTHEWS
MELBOURNE — On June 17, a left-wing activist will appear in the Sunshine Magistrates Court accused of illegally distributing leaflets.
Socialist Alliance member Tony Iltis has been charged with handing out leaflets at the Footscray railway station advertising the February 14 No War on Iraq rally (which a quarter of a million people attended) and attempting to sell copies of Green Left Weekly. According to police, this is prohibited under Clause 325 of the transport regulations.
The Melbourne western suburbs Socialist Alliance branch will be running a campaign against the prosecution of Iltis and restrictions on free speech outside railway stations and supermarkets in the area and the privatisation of public space.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
