UNITED STATES: 120,000 demand 'Troops out!'
On October 25, 100,000 anti-war protesters mobilised in Washington DC to demand the end of the US occupation of Iraq and the immediate withdrawal of US troops. Sponsored by two of country's largest anti-war coalitions, International Act Now to Stop War and End Racism and United For Peace and Justice, it was the largest US anti-war protest since US President George Bush declared on May 1 that combat operations in Iraq had ended. Hundreds of buses from 250 cities and towns ferried protesters to the rally. Protesters filled the US capital's eight-lane streets for more than 20 city blocks. Speakers included Fernando Suarez, whose son was killed in Iraq. More than 20,000 people also demonstrated in San Francisco.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
