SOUTH AFRICA: Protesters denounce Australia's war role
JOHANNESBURG — On
March 23, 1000 anti-war campaigners gathered near Wanderers Stadium, the
venue for the one-day cricket World Cup final between Australia and India.
The anti-war protesters condemned the Australian government's participation
in the US-British invasion of Iraq. “We want to use the World Cup as an
opportunity to support the Australian people against its government's warmongering”,
Anti-War Coalition spokesperson Salim Vally said. After the demonstration
the protesters picketed the US consulate in Houghton Estate. Photo by Claire

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
