Small world, big screen

SYDNEY — Once again, the screens of the State Theatre and Dendy Opera Quays have come alive with a feast of cinema from across the globe. The 49th Sydney Film Festival continues until June 21, with the theme "Small world, big screen".

A number of films feature the issue of refugees. Borders tells the moving story of seven Senegalese refugees making the hopeful journey to a new life in Europe, Escape to Paradise details the heartbreaking struggle of a Turkish man seeking political asylum in Switzerland and L'Afrance reveals how life in Paris goes from great to horrible when a young Senegalese man neglects to renew his residency permit.
