MELBOURNE — A speaking tour of Victoria has been organised for Charles Moran, a representative of the NSW Asbestos Ex-miners Aboriginal Corporation, who is himself suffering from asbestosis. The Bundalung people were forced by economic circumstances to mine asbestos at Baryulgil, NSW, for James Hardie Industries between 1940 and 1979 with no regard for their safety. The tour, which starts in Melbourne on November 6 and runs to November 20, has been organised by the Freedom Socialist Party and is sponsored by Radical Women. A reception has been organised for November 10, and Moran will also address a meeting of progressive unions on Thursday November 12. SYDNEY — Some 40 people attended a one-day seminar on October 25 entitled "Advance Australia Where?" organised by the NSW Rainbow Alliance. The day was divided into three sections dealing with immigration, economics and political structures. Speakers included Francis Milne, Michael Morrisey, Michael Pusey, Belinda Probert, Ted Trainer, Jim Staples and Joe Camilleri.
