Protesters 'welcome' G8 summit
Activists “welcomed” the G8 summit, held in Kananaskis, Canada,
June 26-28, with a string of anti-corporate protests. On June 26, some
4000 people took part in a three-hour snake march through Calgary, the
closest city to Kananaskis. The march culminated in a street soccer game.
According to Alberta Indymedia (<http://alberta.indymedia.org>):
“The police had been challenged to play, they declined, forfeiting victory
to the anarchist soccer team.” On June 23, 5000 people took part in a solidarity
march, also in Calgary. Millions had been spent to “protect” the summit,
and 4500 soldiers joined police from across Canada to guard the leaders
of the world's richest nations. Protests were held in other cities across
Canada. For more information see Alberta Indymedia and Ottawa Indymedia

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
