Weekly anti-war vigil going strong
HOBART — Activists
had wondered if the terrorist attack in Bali would dampen the spirits of
the fourth in a series of weekly vigils against the war on Iraq that have
attracted up to 100 people. On October 18, the conclusion was that it hadn't.
The vigils have been organised by the Peace Coalition — a group formed
specifically to campaign against the impending war. A wide section of the
progressive movement in Hobart is involved in the coalition including the
Socialist Alliance, Quakers and various trade union leaders.
The coalition is working towards a big rally on November 2. To get involved
in the coalition, contact Lynne Fitzgerald on (03) 6234 9553.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
