Unions are planning a series of stoppages

Unions are planning a series of stoppages and actions to voice their opposition to the new industrial legislation. Members of the State Public Services Federation called on their members to refuse to deal with parliamentary papers on Friday, November 13. A rally that day attracted more than 500 public servants. Rolling stoppages are planned this week.

The public transport unions will stop work on Friday, November 20, for 24 hours. Bus drivers are expected to join the walkout.

Teacher unions as well as teachers from the Catholic and independent schools associations will take a series of actions effecting primary, secondary and tertiary institutions from November 23.

Metal industry and electrical unions will strike for 24 hours on November 18.

Industrial action will take place at the Melbourne, Geelong and Western ports.

Nurses at the Dandenong and Geelong hospitals have initiated go-slows and work-to-rule campaigns in protest at the sacking of nurses. Industrial actions at the Royal Melbourne Hospital as well as many other metropolitan and country hospitals are planned in the lead-up to the ACTU-THC November 30 National Day of Action.
