ADELAIDE — The United Trades and Labor Council here has decided to back a "Unity Rally Against Corporate Tyranny", which will conclude the Adelaide M1 Alliance's blockade of this city's stock exchange.
The UTLC's executive voted to back the plan at its April 17 meeting. The rally will feature a leader of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, who will talk about the fight against the attempts by oil company Mobil to cut back maintanence workers at the Port Stanvac oil refinary.
The rally also has the backing of the National Union of Students, the Unemployed People's Movement and various community groups. It will begin at 12.30pm at Victoria Square, where it will be joined by the M1 blockaders before marching to State Parliament House.
M1 activists held a protest against John Howard during the Prime Minister's April 20 visit to Adelaide. Members of the South Australian Genetic Food Information Network also took part in the protest.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
