Differing views on high school action

What the corporate media says: “But worst of all is M1's concerted push
to get kids out of school and involved in a potentially dangerous protest.
Instead, they should consider joining those kids on May 1 for a high school
economics lesson.” Christine Jackman, The Daily Telegraph, April
19.

What the student activists say: “If Jackman is implying that young people
can't think for themselves, and that we should be apathetic and submissive,
she should think again. Young people are leading the movement against corporate
globalisation, and we're not just going to stop there. High school students
will be out in full force on M1.” Lauren Carroll Harris, Newtown High,
Sydney.

“I think that they are scared of us, they know how much power we have
when we unite. An economics class instead of a blockade can't hurt them,
so you can see which side the 'reporter' is on. We will be blockading on
M1, making their nightmares become reality.” Tim Doughney, University High,
