Jello Biafra urges boycott of World Bank bonds
Former Dead Kennedys' front man and candidate in the US Green Party's presidential primaries, Jello Biafra, has endorsed the World Bank bonds boycott campaign on his new spoken-word album, Become the Media.
On the album, Biafra talks about the growing fight to reduce corporate power, both in the music industry and in international politics. During his piece "World Bunk and International Monetary Fraud", he encourages punks and activists to work harder in the fight for justice.
Jello also encourages students to join the fight against sweatshop labour and to reduce the influence of corporations over the universities.
"Don't you want to know if your city has any [World Bank] bonds?", asks Biafra at one point during the recorded speech, taunting the audience into action with his trademark snarl. He compares World Bank bond boycott campaign to the anti-apartheid divestment struggles of almost a decade ago.
Many US city governments hold World Bank bonds and most are linked to World Bank debt finance through mutual funds.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
