Resistance in action
Picket against sweatshop labour
ADELAIDE — Resistance activists picketed clothing store Supr‚ in Rundle Mall on August 17. The protesters demanded that the clothing retailer sign the Homeworkers Code of Practice. The code guarantees signatories' goods are not made by workers on poverty wages. Supr‚ has refused to sign the code.
Supr‚ management attempted to prevent the picket, continuously cleaning off chalked slogans on the footpath, only to see them immediately re-chalked. Eventually, the police invoked council by-laws to move the protesters on.
High School Walkout called
MELBOURNE — Resistance activists have called on high school students to walk out of school on September 11 as part of a planned day of protest commemorating the anti-corporate S11 protests last year. Students will meet at Flinders Street Station at 12.30pm on the day, before marching to a blockade of the Nike Superstore in Bourke Street. The afternoon will end in a corporate scumbags tour through the city, targeting many of the corporations that will be present at the Commonwealth Business Forum from October 3-5.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
