Campaign 2001 launched
The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union launched its national "pattern bargaining" Campaign 2001 at rallies in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide on December 6. Campaign 2001 is raising a set of demands for inclusion in enterprise agreements being fought for by workers simultaneously across the manufacturing industry. Demands include a minimum annual pay increase of 6%, a 30% loading and a minimum of 8 hours work per day for casual contract staff, and a common expiry date for all enterprise agreements. The campaign follows the successful Campaign 2000 that was pursued by the Victorian AMWU leadership.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
