Unionists back Daewoo workers
SYDNEY — The mass sackings and police repression of protesting Daewoo workers in South Korea prompted a solidarity rally outside the South Korean Consulate in Martin Place on May 1. Organised by the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, the rally drew around 60 unionists and community activists.
Protesters were addressed by AMWU state secretary Paul Bastian, NSW Labor Council assistant sectretary John Robertson, and Joon Shik Shin from the Korean Resource Centre. The speakers demanded that all imprisoned workers and union officials be released immediately and that their right to defend their jobs through industrial action be respected.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
