3CR: on air and in the street for IWD

MELBOURNE — Every year, community radio station 3CR serves a feast of women's programming, music and performance to celebrate International Women's Day. This year, 3CR's banquet will bigger than ever. It will kick off at midnight, March 7, and women's voices will fill the airwaves for 24 hours.

On March 8, 3CR women and friends are "Celebrating Herstory". Programmers will look at women's achievements, celebrate what women are doing today and look forward to see where campaigns and endeavours may get women in the future.

Current affairs and industrial issues will be covered in the morning between 6-8am, followed by two hours of indigenous issues and music. Throughout the day, environment, arts, Pacific issues, prison and recovery programs will mark IWD. As usual, 3CR will highlight some of the best local musical talent. Following four hours of community language programs, 3CR will cross live to a stage outside the station, at 21 Smith Street, Fitzroy, where various Melbourne musicians will entertain the crowd.

There will be a women-only Clitoral Mass bike ride through the city to 3CR's studio. Once at the station, women can participate in the handball competition or special 3CR-style aerobics. Curious? Drop by!
