Grey Owl: The Great White Hoax — Grey Owl was a 1930s eco-warrior and advocate of the rights of "his" Native American people. However, he was in reality Archie Belaney from Sussex. He was a bigamist and a drunk. Despite this great con, many praise his campaigning for the Native American people and the wilderness. SBS, Saturday, May 20, 7.30pm.
Goodness Gracious Me — A new series of the hilarious show which highlights the humour of young Asians in Britain. Skits examine what is like to grow up juggling British and South Asian cultures. SBS, Monday, May 22, 8pm.
The Legacy: Murder and Media, Politics and Prison — The story behind the events that were instrumental in California's adoption of the toughest mandatory sentencing law in the US. The murder of 12-year-old Polly Klaas was seized upon by the capitalist media and right-wing politicians to whip up "law and order" hysteria. SBS, Sunday, May 21, 8pm.
The Fortune Teller — If ever you needed proof that we could do without the capitalist class, this documentary about the appalling Rene Rivkin is it. Rivkin is the quintessential profit bludger. As the promo blurb states: "He has 64 cars, 110 watches and a $4 million boat with a helicopter on top of it. However, he is not too busy to enjoy the fruits of his labour [sic], spending most of his time sitting back quaffing coffees and sucking on cigars." Expropriate the bastard! ABC-TV, Tuesday, May 23, 8pm.
Mabo: Life of an Island Man — The story of Eddie "Koiki" Mabo, whose historic land claim on behalf of the Murray Islanders was upheld by the High Court in 1992. ABC-TV, Wednesday, May 24, 11.15pm.
