Mass Olympic evictions threatened

SYDNEY — South Sydney Council is evicting squatters in empty council
buildings at 147-159 Broadway, near Glebe. The council had planned to evict
the squatters on August 28, but public support and media attention forced
a delay. The council does not intend to use the buildings, which will be
boarded up. A win for the squatters will help the hundreds of other homeless
who are evicted from empty buildings without public knowledge and protest.
