S11: people's power in Melbourne
If you relied on media like the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald for coverage of the S11 protests, you wouldn't have seen images like these (both papers are members of the WEF).
The blockaders stood firm against assaults by police and the propaganda of the world's wealthy elite. They gave new lyrics to pop songs; students walked out of school; messages of solidarity were exchanged between unionists, youth, women, migrants and Aborigines.
Activists spruiked all day through megaphones, taught each other non-violent blockading techniques and built a new attraction for Melbourne: the carnival of the oppressed!

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
