'N18' dinner plans to globalise resistance
BY ARUN PRADHAN
MELBOURNE — Plans are under way here for what is hoped will be the largest and most spirited Green Left Weekly dinner that this city has seen for years. The November 18 event, dubbed "N18", will celebrate recent mass protests in Seattle, Melbourne and Prague.
"I expect November 18 to bring together a diverse range of green, socialist and progressive forces in Melbourne, as well as a range of S11 participants and GLW supporters", Jorge Jorquera, one of the event organisers, told Green Left Weekly. "It's bound to be a fun night, but it will also an invaluable shot in the arm for all of us who want to deepen and further the gains of S11."
Toasts will be presented by Craig Johnston, the Victorian secretary of the manufacturing workers union; Pamela Curr, the coordinator of the anti-sweatshop Fairwear campaign; Anne O'Casey, an activist with the Democratic Socialist Party and an S11 organiser, and Cam Walker from Friends of the Earth.
A delicious international feast and live music from Akasa and friends will help provide the festive atmosphere on the night.
Bookings and further enquires for the dinner can be made on (03) 9639 8622.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
