Cream-pie thrower charged

S11 activist, Marcus Brumer who cream-pied the Victorian Premier Steve Bracks last week is facing five charges after being arrested at his Upwey home on October 31.

He was taken by two members of the Protective Security Intelligence Group to the Belgrave police station where he was

questioned and formally charged before being bailed to attend the Melbourne Magistrates' Court at 10am on December 19.

The charges include unlawfully assaulting the premier, unlawful assaulting and recklessly injuring Alex Kerr (the boy accompanying Brack who fell over during the incident). Brumer was also charged with reckless conduct that put Bracks at risk of serious injury and behaving in an offensive manner in a public place.

Brumer said of the charges and the incident: "I am sorry the young boy Alex was affected. That was unintentional and an accident. As for Premier Steve Bracks, I am not sorry. I stand by my actions. I intended the creaming to be a lighthearted, non-violent way of highlighting a very serious issue, the Bracks' ALP government's ordering and applauding of the vicious police brutality at S11.

"The charges against me are politically motivated and over the top. I believe they were laid only after Bracks put some serious pressure on the police. I will fight these charges and continue to tell the truth in court."
