National conference on Cuba set for May 9-10
The Cuba Solidarity Campaign national conference will be held in Melbourne on May 9-10, a week earlier than previously planned.
The conference dates have been changed to allow representatives from Cuban organisations to attend and address the conference. These include a delegation from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), which will be headed by its president, Sergio Corrieri, a prominent cultural figure in Cuba and a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
Another ICAP representative will be arriving in Australia in mid-April to undertake an organising and informational tour of all major centres, both before and after the national conference.
A delegation from the Cuban Workers Organisation (CTC) will also attend the conference as part of a five-week tour of Australia and New Zealand beginning at the end of April. The CTC delegation comprises Augustin Lopez, the national secretary of the Union of Communication Workers, and Arturo Cobo, a leading official within the national office of the CTC.
The visit to Australia of these two delegations will be a major boost to the 1992 Ship to Cuba and other campaigns to be officially launched around Australia in March.
For more information about the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, contact the committee in your city (see page 23 for details) or write to PO Box 12535, A'Beckett Street, Melbourne 3000.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
