Complex sounds of Ireland
Tóg é go bog é
Kila
Kila Music through Larrikin/Festival Records
For anyone who was touched by the commercial success of Riverdance, Irish band Kila, which is hitting the tour circuit as a part of Womad, offers a broader fusion of contemporary and traditional music. The complex sounds are created by the layering of the dulcimer, viola, djembe, clarinet and saxophone upon the traditional Irish bodhran, flute and whistles.
Each of Kila's seven members has significant musical achievements under their belt, and together they were the winners of the Kilkenny Cream of Irish Awards in 1998.
Kila will be performing in February at Womadelaide (19-21), the Swan Club in Perth (23-25), and Womad in Auckland (27-28), and in March at Tilleys Café in Canberra (3), The Basement in Sydney (4), and the Port Fairy Folk Festival (6-7).

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
John Pilger
