Son of Africa, Father of a Nation — The official film biography of Nelson Mandela. It uses extensive interviews with Mandela and those closest to him, plus rare archival footage, to reveal the personality and history of the world's most admired leader. This film's "official" status means it is unlikely to challenge Mandela's saintly image, an image which will not pass to his successor, Thabo Mbeki, when Mandela retires in several months. Blood Upon the Snow — This episode concentrates on the most dramatic events of autumn/winter 1941 — the Nazi attack on Moscow, the subsequent Russian counterattack and the siege of Leningrad. SBS, Sunday, February 28, 8.30pm.

Stonewall — A semi-fictional account of the pivotal moment in the history of the modern gay rights movement: the riots outside the Stonewall Inn in New York's Greenwich Village in 1969. ABC-TV, Wednesday, March 3, 11.05pm.
Baseball: Shadow Ball — Looks at racism and segregation in the United States' national game and examines the leagues organised by African Americans. ABC-TV, Thursday, March 4, 9.30pm.
