Hiccup for government's VSU plans
The Australian Vice-Chancellors Committee has received legal advice from Minter Ellison that the government's voluntary student unionism (VSU) legislation may be unconstitutional.
This is denied by education minister David Kemp, who claims that he has contrary legal advice. So far, however, the government has refused to release this advice publicly.
Students are continuing with plans for a series of anti-VSU rallies in May. A national day of action against VSU has been called by the National Union of Students for May 19.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
