Sydney artist condemns 'Dr John'
SYDNEY — Pictured is a lino-cut relief by Sydney artist Stephen Corry of "Dr" John Howard coming to the aid of the Australian poor (represented as a bed-ridden skull propped up by a pillow of bones). Dr John has a pill — the GST — which is supposed to fix Australia. But the pill is actually a suicide pill for the poor.
Corry, who is the featured artist in the mental health resource book The Way Ahead, describes himself as a socialist/anarchist/activist. He says, "The left in Australia has to pull together to defeat the rising tide of nationalism and uncaring economic rationalism".
More of Corry's work can be seen at the NSW Writers' Centre, Rozelle Hospital grounds (behind the Art College) from 6pm on May 13.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
