SYDNEY — The Australian Kurdish Association organised a 60-strong demonstration
outside the Law Society building on May 25 to call for the release of Kurdistan
Workers Party leader Abdullah Ocalan and a resolution to the war in Turkish-occupied
Kurdistan. The demonstrators called on lawyers in Australia to ensure that
an international team of observers is present throughout Ocalan's trial
so it is conducted according to international conventions and Ocalan's
safety is guaranteed (more coverage on page 22).
