Resistance campaigns around Jabiluka
Resistance campaigns around Jabiluka

NEWCASTLE — Around 70 people heard Jacqui Katona and Yvonne Margarula speak about the campaign to stop the Jabiluka uranium mine in Kakadu National Park last week. David Bradbury's film Jabiluka was also shown.
During the meeting, many participants expressed interest in organising public actions to help prevent the mine from proceeding. From this, Resistance has initiated a Jabiluka Action Group in Newcastle to prepare for the national day of action on April 5.
Resistance will be launching the campaign from a forum at Newcastle University on March 5. Speakers will include Professor John Lester, director of Ullamilka, the Aboriginal postgraduate centre; Resistance organiser Alison Dellit; and Students Association environment officer Moira Ritchie.
To get involved in the campaign, phone Resistance on 4926 5328

"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
