The children of Nicaragua — A documentary on a group of children who set up a radio program run by kids, for kids. The children take on all the roles from reporters to presenters and produce programs on the rights of children. Meeting with community leaders and the president, they push for real answers to the problems of abuse, hunger and the lack of health care. SBS, Friday, August 7, 6pm.
As it happened: Nagasaki stories — This documentary looks at the untold stories of the bombing of Nagasaki in 1945. It seeks the personal and reveals the private recollections of some of Nagasaki's inhabitants. SBS, Friday, August 7, 8pm.

Movie: Bhaji on the Beach — Described by the Village Voice as "a must see, a superintelligent comedy — for rude girls everywhere", Gurinder Chadha's debut feature focuses on three generations of Indian women from an Asian women's centre who travel to Blackpool for a break from the routine of their everyday lives, where they struggle beneath the double yoke of racism and sexism. SBS, Monday, August 10, 9.30pm.
The Cutting Edge: Jabiluka — Ray Bradbury's powerful film documents the decades-long process by which Aboriginal people have been dispossessed and Kakadu National Park encroached upon by uranium mining. It thus gives a context to the current dispute over the mine under construction at Jabiluka. The film has proved to hot for the ABC and the commercial channels: this is one not to be missed. SBS, Tuesday, August 11, 8pm.
The Big Picture: The Top Floor — The third and final episode of the documentary series on banking in the '80s. This instalment focuses on the battles for control of Fairfax. ABC, Thursday, August 13, 9.30pm.
