Mordechai Vanunu's story on stage
ADELAIDE — In August 1986, Mordechai Vanunu revealed Israel's secret nuclear bomb-making facilities and paid a high price for his courage. He was kidnapped by Israel's secret police and shipped in a crate from Italy to Israel, where he was tried in camera for treason. Vanunu was sentenced to 18 years in jail and spent the first 12½ years in solitary confinement in a cell no bigger than a closet. He was released from solitary earlier this year but remains in prison.
Theatre Praxis presents Morde, a play about Vanunu, written by Paul Rees. It is showing at the Lion Theatre, August 14 to 29, at 8pm. Tickets are $18 and $10 concession.

"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
