SYDNEY — About 150 protesters gathered outside the Town Hall here on November 6 to express their anger at the Jabiluka uranium mine.
The rally and march through the city centre to the offices of Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) were organised by the Jabiluka Action Group.
Addressing the rally, Jenny Munro, chair of the Metropolitan Land Council, offered her solidarity to the Mirrar people. Such solidarity by all Australians would beat the government and ERA, she said.
Anti-nuclear campaigner John Hallam emphasised the link between uranium mining and nuclear weapons.
High school activist Emma To proudly pointed to the willingness of students to take to the streets for just causes. She recounted the anti-nuclear test demonstrations in 1995 and the national walkouts against racism by secondary students in July and August.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
