Troy Perry, founder of the US MCC gay church, where issues of sexuality are the cohesive factor, hosts his church's international conference in Sydney and discusses the church's view of sexuality. Kateb Yacine: The Rebel in Love — This documentary celebrates the life of one of North Africa's best known writers. While still young, Yacine had a horrific time in a French jail, where he realised his life's work would be to represent the working class. He left jail determined to fight for his people and to let the French colonialists know what the Algerian people really thought. SBS, Monday, August 18, 8.30pm.

The Prize: The New Order of Oil — The story of oil after the Gulf War finds environmentalism on the advance and the oil companies on the defensive. Many are questioning what future there is for oil. ABC-TV, Wednesday, August 20, 12.25am.

China Without Mao — People from different walks of life talk about their lives and the changes in China since the death of Mao Zedong. Many express the view that an elite has gained from the rapid social change while the majority still struggle to make a living. SBS, Wednesday, August 20, 8.30pm.

Bugs in the System — Quantum asks: Just how safe is our food? After a recent rash of food poisoning, this program looks at how bugs get into our food. ABC-TV, Thursday, August 21, 8pm.
