ADELAIDE — Anti-racist activists here launched a new committee on August 13 to fight racism and challenge One Nation's and the Liberal government's racist policies.

Campaign Against Racism is planning an action outside a One Nation fundraising dinner, to be attended by Pauline Hanson, on October 16. "We will be making the point that racism feeds on fear and inviting people to attend our alternative event, 'Hungry for Justice!', outside", Natalie Woodlock from CAR told Green Left Weekly.

Woodlock said people should not be intimidated by media reports of violence at protests. "We aim to organise vibrant but peaceful actions that promote arguments against racism and propose solutions every time racist meetings or activities take place", she said.

CAR will support the Vietnamese community's plans to march past the offices of the anti-Asian National Action in Woodville on September 6. CAR's next meeting is on August 27. For more information, telephone 8231 6982.
