CANBERRA — The ACT government's "Sorry Day" was held here on August 25. María Chichilco, the touring representative of the FMLN of El Salvador, was an invited guest in the Legislative Assembly for the ceremony. Chichilco went up to the Liberal chief minister, Kate Carnell, and after all the formal greetings had her comments translated for the whole chamber and public gallery to hear: "With all respect to you politicians, if you really want to do something for your indigenous people, you should start by letting them out of the prisons. Then you can talk about saying sorry." You could have heard a pin drop.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
