Nike protest
Nike protest
SYDNEY More than 100 people protested against the super-exploitation of workers in Nike's factories in the Third World on October 18. The energetic, overwhelmingly young, crowd moved through Pitt Street in a flying picket that protested before shops that sell Nike products. Passers-by stopped to watch street theatre depicting the treatment of workers in Nike's Indonesian operations. The pickets were followed by a rally and speak-out in Town Hall Square. The protest was part of an international day of action against Nike and was organised by Action in Solidarity with Indonesia and East Timor and supported by Resistance and the Democratic Socialist Party.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
