Fund appeal off to good start

The 1996 Green Left Weekly $120,000 fund appeal has made a very promising start. So far, close to $13,000 has been collected around the country. Many cities are hosting Green Left Weekly events over the next few months to raise money for the best progressive newspaper in Australia. The establishment newspapers include a very large proportion of advertising, which provides the bulk of their income. The news to advertising ratio is quite low. Green Left stands out for its depth and range of news and comment, providing you with a much higher proportion of real news per page and therefore more value for money. However, because the $2 cover price doesn't cover the cost of Green Left Weekly production, we need to raise extra funds to keep Green Left in production.
