The Rhonda Movement, a sassy female trio, will be performing Drumhead as part of the 10th Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Drumhead is about Rhonda who is living life on the ledge. A dramatic incident in her life catapults us back to the beginning of the world. Sporting percussive PVC corsetry and wielding electric ukuleles and various household appliances, the Rhonda Movement set off on a mission to explore Rhonda's brain.

Drawing on scientific research and social documentation, as well as completely fantastical theories, Drumhead investigates the seemingly mundane events that shape our lives. Disposing of the "big issues" simply and effectively in a percussive frenzy, the Rhonda's slap their sticks against ukuleles, hot water bottles, umbrellas, buckets, goggles, graters and coffee grinders.

Penny Baron and Stayci Taylor made their debut as The Rhonda Movement in 1993 with Drum This Into Your Head at the Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals. Merophie Carr, a welcome addition to the Rhonda Movement, has just returned from Europe where she performed with the street theatre group The Hunting Party.

This new Rhonda Movement show is an hilarious blend of physical theatre, music and comedy.
