Dealing with the Demon: Seeds of War — The first of a three-part documentary on drugs, dealing and addiction. This episode investigates the forces that created and continue to stimulate the international trade in illicit drugs. It traces the US-led campaign of prohibition and the impact of this policy in Australia. ABC TV, Thursday, June 20, 9.30pm.
Movie: Carve Her Name With Pride (1958) — The true story of a hero of the French Resistance during World War II, Violette Szabo. ABC TV, Friday, June 21, 10.20pm.
Movie: Alias La Gringa (1991) — An unlikely friendship develops between a professor accused of terrorism and a petty criminal, both incarcerated on a high security prison island in Peru. SBS, Monday, June 24, 9.30pm.
Exodus — In recognition of Refugee Week, SBS is screening this BBC documentary which examines Tanzania's second largest city, which appeared out of nothing in April 1994, when half a million refugees from Rwanda set up home in Benaco. An ever-widening circle of devastated land has since spread further and further around the camp. This program follows the progress of the world's first environmental impact assessment of a refugee crisis, as the aid agencies are forced to look further ahead than the immediate predicament. SBS, Tuesday, June 25, 8.30pm.
Dealing with the Demon: An Unholy Alliance — This episode unravels the role of heroin in the Cold War. From almost zero production before the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan, the region has grown into the world's largest producer of heroin with the connivance of the CIA. ABC TV, Thursday, June 27, 9.30pm.
