Hip Hopera
SYDNEY — Death Defying Theatre is celebrating its move into a new home at the Casula Powerhouse with Hip Hopera — 12 weeks of workshops and rehearsals for young people in western Sydney. The program, beginning September 4, is free and open to anyone between the ages of 15 and 25. It covers hip hop, performance, video and graffiti and design and is intended for everyone from first-time performers to the more experienced.
The workshops and rehearsals will lead to the production of "mega multimedia Hip Hopera shows" (dates and venues to be announced).
"By nature of the event, it will be a partly theatrical interpretation of hip hop as an art form", says director Morgan Lewis. "The whole performance will be what the participants bring to it. I see myself working as a net; I'll just have to catch it all and shape it in some way."
To participate, ring Mona Zaylaa on 601 8011.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
