'Queer as Hell' exhibition
'Queer as Hell' exhibitionBy Leon Harrison
PERTH The Queer as Hell gay and lesbian art exhibition is to go ahead despite being banned from the WA Museum. The local lesbian and gay art association, That Way Inclined, is displaying a variety of paintings, sculptures and writing which represent gay and lesbian perspectives. They illustrate that no one is normal because we are all as queer as hell.
Despite attacks from fundamental Christian groups and a homophobic museum director, the exhibition is an open invitation for the general community to see the art and the self-expression from the lesbian and gay community.
Opening celebrations are to feature the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Gay and Lesbian Singers and a poet.
The exhibition will be at the Union Gallery, Upstairs Union Bar at 102 Railway Parade, West Perth, October 12-29.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
