Qld meatworkers retain award
By Bill Mason BRISBANE — Australian Meat Holdings and the meatworkers' union have agreed to re-open three Queensland abattoirs closed for almost a month by a dispute over enterprise bargaining. More than 1700 meatworkers returned to work under award conditions on October 31 at the Dinmore, Toowoomba and Beaudesert abattoirs. This follows a prolonged period of industrial struggle against AMH's attempts to break down the tally system, and force through 10-hour shifts and increased production targets. Under direction from the Industrial Relations Commission, AMH agreed to call off trial enterprise agreements at the plants, pending new talks with the union.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
