Protest Lynas corporation at their Sydney Annual General Meeting of shareholders
A perfect opportunity to express concerns to the Lynas board and to their shareholders. A delegation of Malaysians visiting Australia will attend the meeting to voice their concerns to Lynas about them building the worlds largest rare earths refinery in Kuantan on the east coast of Malaysia. The plant risks polluting important coastal ecosystems and major sources of livelihoods for local people. There are over 700,000 people living in a 35km radius of the Lynas plant who were never consulted about the refinery. While community resistance is growing, Lynas are continuing with the business as usual approach. Tues Nov 20, 9am

"Australia has the most restrictive media in the western world. Censorship by omission denies Australians their democratic right to make sense of whole stratas of political and foreign policy. That's why Green Left Weekly is a beacon, doing a job of honourable journalism, as an agent of people, not power."
